Among the offices that work at the upazila level in the administrative functions of Bangladesh, one of the most important offices is the office of the Upazila Project Implementation Officer. After the independence of the country in 1971, in 1973-74, the relief department was started in the circle officer's office. Gradually its activities began to increase. At present there are offices of upazila project implementation officers in all upazilas of Bangladesh. Apart from this, there is also the office of the project implementation officer in the circle office in the city corporation area. The Upazila Project Implementation Office is under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Government of Bangladesh. The office is managed by the Directorate of Disaster Management. The District Commissioner and Upazila Executive Officer supervise all the implemented programs. Apart from this, there is an office of the district relief and rehabilitation officer at the district level for direct supervision of the program of the upazila project implementation officer.
